Recommendations

Bellapais is a beautiful historic village around 20 minutes from the Villa. It has a stunning abbey and is worth a trip in the day and at night time (there are a number of great restaurants.) The abbey has a small cost to enter and it's worth looking around.

Limited parking is available in the village for a small cost and the roads are narrow.

Kyrenia/Girne is packed full of history to discover. The castle is worth a visit and contains a museum and the opportunity to walk the ancient walls. The town is full of shops and places to eat. Boat trips are available from the harbour, the price of these can be negotiated. Parking can be found in the town, the one we regularly use is found 

here. 

St Hilarion is in the mountains you can see from the Villa. It's a popular tourist spot for hiking and scenic views. There is some information about the history of the castle. It can get very hot in summer so be mindful to time your visit at a cooler time if you're visiting in mid summer and take water with you.

There are many beaches in the area. Most have 'beach clubs' and require you to pay a small fee to use the facilities and sunbeds. There is Diana and Shayna a very short drive away. Some man-made beaches have exclusive access such as the beach at the Cratos Casino & Resort if you want something a bit more luxury with top notch facilities. 

The beaches vary on quality depending on time of year and what's going on so there isn't a specific one we'd recommend - it's down to personal taste.

There are 3 bays on Aligadi beach, each is directly after the other on the main road so if you reach bay 1 and wish to go to bay 2 just carry on the road until you reach the next sign for Aligadi. Bay 2 is a turtle nesting site, in hatchling season you can do an evening trip to the turtle conservation hut and release baby turtles into the ocean. 

Famagusta is a popular city to visit in Northern Cyprus. There is plenty to do, including multiple historical sites to visit as well as modern amenities.
